We, at St. John the Baptist
High school, are fortunate to have with
us the Manager, Fr. John Rumao and our dynamic
young Principal, Fr. John Lopes who took
charge of the school two years ago and who
is today spearheading this epoch making
event. A century is a landmark in the history
of any institution, and it is a call to
one and all who passed through its hallowed
ground, to once again return and be with
us as we celebrate this joyous occasion
with revelry and dignity. It will be a yearlong
celebration which will commence on the feast
of our Patron - St. John the Baptist, which
we celebrate every year on the 24 th of
June. We will begin with the celebration
of the "Holy Mass" by Rev. Fr. Gregory Lobo
who is also the Secretary of the Archdiocesan
Board of Education - Mumbai. This will be
followed by a Variety Entertainment put
up by our students.
During the year, along with the academics we will have a series of events namely cultural, sports and educational and other mega events. We will be conducting some intra and inter school and college events, like painting, singing, dancing and elocution and sports. An Ex-students Association is being formed and we hope, you the media will give it enough coverage to draw out its students who have dispersed all over the globe.
The week before Christmas namely from the 13 th of December to the 18 th of December, we will be inviting eminent personalities and ex-students to take a seat of honour in our festivities. We have already written to His Excellency the President of India to preside over one of these days. We are hoping for a favourable reply.
We have set aside one
day exclusively for the Junior College.
Incidentally the Junior College will be
celebrating its Silver Jubilee the same
year. There is a day also marked for the
ex-students. We will also be releasing a
centenary souvenir in which you will find
the best wishes, from all the past managers,
principals, ex-teachers, ex-students and
the general public and also other stories
and articles from students and teachers
present and past.
The grand finale of the yearlong celebration will be held on the 30 th of April 2005. This will be exclusively restricted to our ex-managers, principals, vice-principals, supervisors, teaching and non-teaching staff members and their families.
St. John the Baptist is instrumental in shaping the careers of eminent Physicians, Surgeons, Engineers, Judges and Lawyers. Let us not forget the Civil Servants, Educationists, Sportsmen and women who have passed through this institution. To name them would be impossible, as the list is inexhaustible. Suffice it, to let them know that we are proud of their achievements.
In conclusion we are
proud to announce that on 26 th January 2004
we have launched our very own website - www.sjbhs.org
. Those interested in St.John the Baptist
could mail us at the site for information,
queries and contributions-by way of articles,
reminiscence and photographs.
