The Ex students' Association participated in the annual Gudhi Padva parade in Thane city. This is an event that is organized by the Kopineshwar Mandir Trust and attracts wide media coverage. The float of the school depicted the concept of national integration and the values the school stands for, one of the main being that of Unity in Diversity. With the help of the teachers, 15 students were chosen to dress in various regional costumes to be on the float the remaining students marched in school uniform behind the float accompanied by their teachers.
The Thane Bharat Sahakari Bank very graciously sponsored the float. The main attraction was the huge backdrop of the school building and the Church in vivid color. In addition this was decorated with garlands of Marigold and other decorative buntings. Both the sides of the float had large banners proclaiming the centenary of the school.
Accompanying them were the ex students from various walks of life. Along the way, the school float came in for a special honor with a shower of petals from the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Subhash Kale, also an ex student.
The running commentary of the procession also made a special mention of the School centenary. It was encouraging to see wide coverage by several news organizations along the way. After about 2 hours, the procession ended near the rear gate of the school. There was a special mention of the school in various newspapers and news channels the next day along with photographs in the local dailies. |
